Sobre mi/About me

Como emigrante, como mujer y como persona de color, me he sentido sin voz. Mi trabajo combina mis experiencias y mi rutina diaria con elementos comunes como conversaciones, hilos y tampones. Mi obra incluye elementos sagrados y profanos para crear un dialogo que provoque emociones y sacuda el intelecto. Trabajo en varios medios: pintura, escultura, instalaciones, audio y video. Mis piezas son la contribución de energía física e intelectual que representan mi deseo por interrumpir los estereotipos sobre la raza, el genero y las creencias.

I find myself without voice. As a woman, as an immigrant, as a brown person... the art is my voice. Through my work I merge my experiences with daily elements of my personal life such as tampons, threads, and common conversations. I include profane and sacred elements to create a dialogue that invokes strong emotions and stirs the intellect. I work in various media; painting, sculpture, installations, sound and video. My work is simple and provocative. I blend my intellect and body to contribute with conscious energy towards these creative pieces that portray my desire to interrupt the stereotypes around gender, belief and race.
